Top 5 ‘Must Have’ Wedding Photos

I thought I would share with you my top five ‘must have’ wedding photos.

I spend lots of time with my couples before their big day planning their important shots.  We have meetings, put together lists and share photos on Pinterest.  We have planned the ‘must have’ wedding photos long before the day arrives.

Booking the right wedding photographer to capture your day and all the special moments is crucial.  A professional wedding photographer will know where to place themselves for those key moments, be able to act quickly and discreetly to give you images that tell your story. Having been a wedding photographer for quite a few years now I know the key shots of the day that I need to capture and get in the bag.

Every bride-to-be will have a view of the images she wants for her special day.  After all she has been dreaming of this since she was a small girl.  She will want those precious moments captured forever.  That glance as her husband-to-be catches a glimpse of her walking down the aisle, her flower girls frolicking in the summer sunshine, that million dollar bridal gown.

There are so many special moments throughout a wedding day.  Here are five of my favourite “must have” photos that you might want to add to your wedding day picture list…

The Gown

Perhaps my favourite part of the day is all the bridal prep excitement and chaos.  A shot or two of that all important bridal gown draped or hanging is memorable, a mother of the bride fastening the dress and then a bride in all her splendour ready to meet her life partner

The Aisle Shot

Whether it’s a bride walking down the aisle with her father or the moment a groom turns to see his bride for the first time, this really is one of those priceless moments…

The Details

Weddings take months of planning and preparation. I love to capture all those little details that make your day unique and special to you.  It may be the flowers, the cake, table favours, room decorations, I try to capture it all…

A Bride and Groom Moment

Another favourite part of the day for me is taking my Bride and Groom away from the celebrations for just a few moments for those just married bride and groom shots.  There is always time for a kiss photo here, or perhaps a Bride and Groom moment that says “We did it”!  I always feel honoured to share this romantic part of the day with all my gorgeous couples.

Candid Wedding Party Shots

Candid shots with you and your nearest and dearest always provide an image that shows the emotion of the day.  It may be a mother and daughter hug,  a bride showing her maid of honour the ring, or flower girls running and giggling in a meadow.  These are the photos that you will treasure.

Jemma and James – Lifestyle Photo Shoot

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Jemma and James for their Lifestyle Photo Shoot session.

Take one gorgeous and enthusiastic couple, place them in the Surrey Hills and let your camera do it’s magic!

James’s Mum had contacted me last year to purchase a voucher for a lifestyle portrait session for Jemma and James as a Christmas gift.  James now tells me this was her only hope of getting some pictures of the two of them.  As a result of our planning we decided to create a country, picnic styled photo shoot at Newlands Corner.  Jemma had warned me on the phone that they had been practising a few ‘special’ moves but I wasn’t quite sure what I was letting myself in for.

We had the most perfect evening for light and a stunning setting overlooking the Surrey Hills.  Jemma got into the spirit of the photo shoot before you could say boo to a goose.  James was happy to go along with it all.   These guys were just so fun and natural together which meant that no direction was required.  We even managed to capture a few shots of their spectacular “Dirty Dancing” lift.  Although at one point I did think James might not catch Jemma and I had visions of her rolling down the hill.

Here are a few pics from our photo shoot..

Do you use Pinterest to pin and share your wedding planning and photography ideas?

I absolutely love Pinterest as a tool for working with my Brides and Grooms to share ideas and suggestions for their wedding photography.   I set up a board for each of my couples so that they can share images that they like and feel connected to.  It helps me create a visual for their wedding day, whether it is to set the scene or to understand the style of photography they want to create on the day.  We share and discuss the images pinned to come up with exciting and unique ideas for their wedding photography.
